Diebougou Bound!

Hello, Family and Friends! Diebougou (Dee-uh-'boo-goo), down in Southwest Burkina, will soon be our new home. We traveled here this past Saturday, and it was a long but good trip down from Ouaga ('Wah-guh), the capital (it took about 6 hours give or take). The last time I (Ed) was down here (January of 2013) it was very brown and not so pretty. Well, several days into our being hear last year, it hit me as we were traveling the countryside that we were there during the winter months. OF COURSE IT WAS GOING TO BE BROWN! And I thought it was just being in Africa. Now, about a year and a half later, I see how beautiful this part of the world is when there is regular rain. There are hills and green grass and many trees. It is planting season, and the land is very lush. Color-wise, where it is green, it is about as green as Ireland, and where it is not, it is about as red as Georgia.

Rainy season does not mean that it is raining all the time. It does mean that it rains about every other day. And when it rains...IT POURS! These regular storms usually knock out the power, which returns shortly after they pass. Our first night here in Diebougou (we are staying with Ms. Lynn for right now), a storm blew in. At first the lack of power made Maleah quite nervous, however, after several minutes of finger puppets projected with my phone on the ceiling, she didn't mind it so much.
