What a stressful day. The house selling and the budget being met had their stresses, but packing has taken the cake! Piles clutter living spaces. Just when you think you have almost got it all, there is more to sort and pack. Today, there were several points when I wondered how we were going to do it. Packing to move is one thing. Packing to move overseas for multiple years with a limited number of pounds per check-on luggage is an entirely different thing altogether.
It the midst of it all, God reminds us that His peace and grace and love are sufficient for us, and, in His kindness, He makes a way for us to bring the things we think we will want and need (especially for those first few months). North American specialties like creamy peanut butter and Zatarain's red beans and rice will sure to be a blessing in the middle of language and cultural learning. Having familiar and beloved toys will certainly help to relieve some of the total other-ness of a new home, new country, and new people. We praise God that in the midst of the stress and strain of the remaining days and hours, His mercies are new every morning and His faithfulness is ever and always great (See Lamentations 3:22-25)! By His grace and lovingkindness, I can take a deep breath at the end of the most stressful packing day thus far and smile and thank God for His wonderful care for us. And in that deep breath, I remind myself that Jesus is present with us and is loving us in the midst of it all (See Matthew 28:18-20).
