4 Weeks and Counting

Hello, ALL!

It was about a year and a month ago that we packed up and left Vivian for what we thought was going to be a short time of preparation and family time in Mississippi. Little did we know then how much was really involved in the process of preparation. Needless to say, the process of getting going is as vital as the going itself!

Now, here we are, 1 month away to touching down on Burkinabé soil. We leave Mississippi on June 11th, fly out the next day, and arrive in Burkina Faso, West Africa on the 13th. We have been knee-high in purchasing and packing (or at least readying for packing). Having made nearly all our purchases, our next step will be to see how much of it all will fit! (Our checked baggage will be 8 footlockers, which one might think would be plenty of room...uh...the next next phase will be returning items that won't make the "fit" cut.)

Tomorrow we head for a 6-day trip to the Vivian, LA area to give updates, our thanks, and our goodbyes before leaving the country for 2 years. We will be fellowshipping with folks at Trees Baptist Church tomorrow evening, and then sharing with FBC Vivian Sunday morning and Emmanuel Baptist Church Sunday night about what this past year has been like and what God has taught us through the process.

Our plan from here on out is to post a weekly update. Are we nervous? Yes. Do we feel inadequate for the task before us? Definitely, by ourselves. We praise God that our adequacy is not from ourselves but from Him (2 Cor. 3:5!). Please pray that in the midst of the stress of crunch time we lift our eyes to Jesus and keep our focus on Him (Heb. 12:1-3). THANK YOU!
