WHO is Shattering Darkness, Inc.?

Shattering Darkness is a non-profit evangelical gospel ministry based in Burkina Faso, West Africa. “We are an indigenous church planting ministry, to unreached people groups. Because time is too short, people are too lost, and hell is too real.”

WHAT is Shattering Darkness, Inc.?

Shattering Darkness is a God-ordained, Christ-centered, Bible-based, Holy Spirit-driven ministry established to bring glory to God, the lost to faith is Jesus Christ and believers to their full faith-potential in Christ. Shattering Darkness exists for the sole purpose of reaching unreached people groups of West Africa with the gospel message of Jesus Christ. New believers are discipled, equipped, and sent out as missionaries, evangelists, pastors, teachers, and children’s workers, each entering the darkness of spiritual lostness and shattering it with the saving truth and light of Jesus Christ.

WHEN did the ministry of Shattering Darkness begin?

Lynn Kennedy began the ministry in 1998 under auspices of the International Mission Board. Shattering Darkness, Inc. became a separately incorporated ministry in August 2004. Since the ministry’s inauguration in 1998, more than 3,000 people have come to Christ and been baptized. Forty-five believers have been formally trained and are now serving as full-time ministers of the Gospel. One leader has graduated from Missionary Bible School. One couple completed seminary in Ghana and three couples are in Bible school in Bobo. Eleven churches have been established (representing 36 villages and 2 people groups). Seven couples have been commissioned and have relocated to interior villages as church-planters. Seventeen weekly Bible teaching and worship meetings are held. Shattering Darkness produces a gospel teaching radio ministry, which is broadcast into four countries (Benin, Ivory Coast, Ghana, and Burkina Faso). The number of short-term U.S. mission teams who have served in Burkina Faso through Shattering Darkness continues to increase, assisting with church construction, leadership development, evangelistic crusades, discipleship, marriage enrichment seminars, adult and child evangelism, and medical missions.

What our role will be with Shattering Darkness...

Our ministry with Shattering Darkness will include helping and serving short-term teams throughout the year. Tracy will be in the villages weekly discipling women with Ms. Lynn. Ed will be sharing the Gospel alongside church leaders and preaching regularly. In addition to being home schooled, our daughters will accompany Tracy and Ms. Lynn into villages, playing with the children and learning to love the people and ministry with us.
